IBS, Gut Disorders, and the Hidden War Going On Inside You

Alright, let’s stop pretending that irritable bowel syndrome is just “one of those things.” Because it’s not. And if you’re dealing with IBS, reflux, chronic bloating, food sensitivities, constipation, diarrhea, gastritis, colitis, Crohn’s disease, or any of these so-called mystery gut disorders, your body is not malfunctioning randomly. Your body is trying to tell you something. The problem is, most people have been trained not to listen.

This whole thing sneaks up on you. A little bloating here and there. Some gas. Maybe certain foods suddenly don’t sit right anymore. You feel heavy after meals. Your stomach feels like food just sits there forever. Maybe you start carrying antacids around like they’re breath mints. And everybody tells you it’s normal.

“It’s stress.”
“It’s aging.”
“It’s acid reflux.”
“Take this prescription.”

And for a little while, the prescription makes you feel better. But here’s the problem: Feeling better is not the same thing as getting better. That’s where people get trapped.

Here’s what I’ve observed over decades of working with people: Gut disorders tend to progress in stages.

  1. First comes indigestion.
  2. Then food intolerance.
  3. Then inflammation.

Then the real trouble begins.

One day, you can drink milkshakes and eat pizza with no problem. Next thing you know, you’re “suddenly” lactose intolerant. Gluten becomes the enemy. Spicy foods destroy you. Fatty foods wreck your whole day. And they act like this all happened out of nowhere. No, it didn’t. Something has been building inside you for years.

Now here’s where people either lean in or walk out of the room.

In my opinion, based on what I’ve seen over and over again, one of the biggest missing conversations in modern digestive health is the issue of parasites and worms, microbial overgrowth, and what those organisms leave behind.

And before people get uncomfortable, let me ask you something: We deworm our dogs. We deworm our cats. Farmers deworm entire herds of animals. But humans? Oh no, apparently we’re magically exempt.

That never made much sense to me.

Now, I’m not saying every digestive issue comes down to one thing. But I am saying this:

When people begin seriously addressing internal imbalance and reducing biological burden, their lives begin to change. I’ve watched it happen too many times to ignore.

You’ve got to understand something. These organisms are survivors. They adapt. They protect themselves. They build environments where they can thrive. And as the imbalance grows, your body starts losing ground.

You develop:

  • Chronic bloating
  • Brain fog
  • Fatigue
  • Coated tongue
  • Irregular bowel movements
  • Food cravings that make no sense
  • Low energy
  • Inflammation everywhere

And then comes the diagnosis carousel:

  • IBS
  • Functional bowel disorder
  • Colitis
  • Gastritis
  • Diverticulitis
  • Crohn’s disease.

New label, same downward trend.

Suppressing Symptoms Isn’t the Same as Solving the Problem

Now listen, I understand why people use medications. When you’re miserable, you want relief. No judgment there. But if all you do is silence the symptoms without asking why your body is screaming in the first place, you may just be giving the deeper issue more time to grow.

That’s the concern. Because once the body progresses into severe inflammatory and autoimmune territory, now you’re in a much bigger battle.

This is one of the biggest principles behind everything I teach: Before rebuilding the body, you have to clear the field.

If your internal environment is overloaded, it doesn’t matter how many supplements, cleanses, or healing gadgets you throw at yourself. The system is too congested to respond properly.

That’s one of the reasons I created my Silver Water and the more comprehensive Disease Symptom Elimination Program in the first place. I kept seeing people stuck in the same cycle: manage symptoms, feel a little relief, decline a little more, repeat.

Disease Symptom Elimination Program

My approach was never about simply silencing symptoms. It was about helping the body clear internal burdens, including eliminating parasites and worms, supporting the gut terrain, strengthening the immune response, and creating conditions for real restoration to begin.

Some people only need basic support early on. Others, especially those dealing with years of chronic digestive decline, often need a more serious and consistent rebuilding strategy. That’s where the full program comes in.

I always emphasize:

  • Clearing the gut
  • Eliminating parasites and worms
  • Supporting the microbiome
  • Strengthening the immune system
  • Reducing internal burden
  • Staying consistent long enough for the body to recover

And when people actually commit to that process, rather than dabble in it for three days and quit, they begin to see dramatic changes.

This Is Not a Weekend Detox

This is where people fail. They want instant results. They try something for a week, don’t become Superman overnight, and quit. Meanwhile, the imbalance that took 10 or 20 years to build is still sitting there, and growing every day.

No. This takes consistency. It takes commitment. And it takes enough humility to realize your body may need more support than you thought.

I truly believe this: The body is designed to recover when given the right conditions. Not always instantly. Not always easily. But the capacity is there. And I’ve seen enough people regain their health, rebuild digestion, restore energy, and reclaim their lives that I can no longer pretend this is all random coincidence.

Look, I’m not here to tell you what to do. You want to follow the conventional route? That’s your decision. But at least ask questions.

At least consider that maybe your body isn’t betraying you, maybe it’s trying desperately to get your attention. And maybe the answer isn’t simply suppressing symptoms forever. Maybe the answer is rebuilding the terrain from the inside out.

That’s the path I chose. And it’s the path I’ve watched help a whole lot of other people, too.

Wayne Rowland’s 6 Stages of Digestive Breakdown

A conceptual wellness framework based on Wayne Rowland’s personal observations and philosophy.

Stage Wayne’s Description Common Experiences
Stage 1 Early Digestive Disturbance Bloating, gas, indigestion, sluggish digestion, mild constipation or loose stools
Stage 2 Food Sensitivity & Intolerance Reflux, dairy intolerance, gluten sensitivity, trouble digesting fats or spicy foods
Stage 3 Systemic Gut Imbalance Brain fog, coated tongue, fatigue, chronic bloating, irregular bowel function
Stage 4 Functional Digestive Disorders IBS, functional dyspepsia, chronic inflammation, ongoing digestive discomfort
Stage 5 Structural & Inflammatory Breakdown Gastritis, ulcers, diverticulitis, chronic colitis, intestinal inflammation
Stage 6 Autoimmune & Severe Gut Deterioration Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, severe malabsorption, fistulas, chronic systemic inflammation

The Pattern

According to Wayne, people rarely jump straight into severe digestive disease. Instead, the body tends to decline gradually, moving from mild digestive irritation into deeper inflammatory and autoimmune conditions over time if the underlying imbalance is never addressed. That’s one of the reasons Wayne emphasized early intervention so strongly. In his view, the earlier someone begins supporting gut balance, immune function, and internal cleansing, the easier it is to reverse the momentum before the body reaches the later stages.
